Continuous Earthquakes!

Posted on March 15th, 2010

After the earthquake happened in Chille, more earthquakes continues to happen around the world.

Herewith is the updated image of the previous post that I have written. See attached image for reference.

*updated as of March 15, 2010

In my previous post, I only ended up counting in number 3. Now I will continue to map the earthquakes happening around the globe starting with number 4.

4. Okcular, Turkey – on the early dawn of a Turkish town, around 4:32am(local time) on a Sunday March 7, 2010 a magnitude 6.0 earthquake awaken the sleeping residents. It was reported to have killed 51 people during the calamity and has more than 30 people injured.

5. Jakarta, Indonesia – March 14, 2010, Sunday around 7:47pm(local time), Indonesia was rocked by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake which caused several cities and towns to shake and tremble. There has been no reported casualties during the calamity and no tsunami warnings were released. Indonesia sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.

6. Surigao, Philippines – magnitude 5.0 hits the little city of Surigao, Philippines last March 14, 2010 Sunday and reportedly to have happened at exactly 5:50pm(local time) while everyone are resting after seeing a fun filled boxing fight of Manny Pacquiao against Joshua Clottey. There were no casualties and deaths reported.

I will continue to map the reported earthquakes happening around the world and will continue to update my avid readers and followers.

*this post is based on the reports that I have read, seen and heard.

World Map of Tectonic Plates

World Map of Tectonic Plates

Tectonic plates are part of the Earth’s crust that gradually moves over time. Tectonic plates are able to move because the Earth’s lithosphere has a higher strength and lower density then the underlying asthenosphere. Their movement is driven by heat dissipation from the Earth’s mantle. Lateral density variations in the mantle result in convection, which is transferred into tectonic plate motion through some combination of drag, downward suction at the subduction zones, and variations in topography and density of the crust that result in difference in gravitational forces, thus EARTHQUAKES.

In the image shown above, tectonic plates in red are:

1. Chile – a terrifying 8.8 magnitude hit the ground in Chile last February 27, 2010 a Saturday. It is recently reported that more than 700 people died in the incident and is increasing. Some scientist also reported that it moved the Earth’s axis by about 3 inches and shorten each day by about 1.26 millisecond.

2. Haiti – magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit the country last January 12, 2010 that killed thousands. It opted many countries to send help by means of anything and also joined hand some popular celebrities to make funds for the said calamity.

3. Sumatra – December 26, 2004 a devastating magnitude 9.1 hit Sumatra, Indonesia that triggered deadly tsunamis all over the world. It killed many lives and properties during the calamity and said to change the axis of the Earth by about 2.76 inches and shortened each day by 6.8 microseconds.

These three instances that I plotted above happened right above A TECTONIC PLATE. Notice the red marks that I covered, earthquakes mostly happen in tectonic plate boundaries and that is where it happen the deadliest.

In the case of our beloved country, Philippines, the tectonic plate is only located in the eastern part and movements mostly happens in waters of the pacific. That is why we are so blessed to be in the place that our country is right now.

Tectonic plate movements are triggered by heat bursting out from the mantle of the earth, which is near to the crust. With the current multiple and instantaneous happening of earthquakes around the world, does this mean that the Earth is heating up? Or is just a mere coincidence that two major and deadliest earthquakes in history happened in the same year 2010?

In all of the technologies developed until today, none has ever created one that would predict where earthquakes would hit next. Let us all be warned.

GOD help us all.

Philippine Election 2010

Posted on February 17th, 2010

It is not new to us to hear chants, advertisements, and political forums. After all, election is coming. But when we hear those ads in TV or radio stations, we, in some peculiar times, ask ourselves if those promises were to be realized after we vote. It makes us think of how reliable the person vowing to do his/her platforms and if they are really truthful to their promises.

Many advertisements being shown on TV are familiar even to the young ones. I even noticed my niece singing a couple of those political advertisements with matching actions and gestures, and she’s only a year and a half old. These just show how influential advertisements to the people, without the people knowing how much do the politician pay for those particular ads. Some politicians I caught viewing on TV said, “I am poor!” Like hell I will believe that. How could they pay such large amount of money, to which I don’t know the exact amount, to the TV company just to plug their ads, I bet it’s millions. And that’s what they call POOR. Can they even describe the word?

Actors and actresses are being hired by politicians to campaign for their names. Some actors and actresses though are voluntarily campaigning for politicians whom they believe are capable of doing their job right. How much do they earn? That’s a question in mind of many. I just realized – integrity can be sold!

In many cases of PROMISES made during campaign, I always hear many familiar lines to which I do believe that it hasn’t been realized until today simply because of the fact that some politicians are promising it AGAIN. One of which is the prevention of TUITION INCREASE. That can help, of course, but I think they are missing one piece of the puzzle. Given that tuitions may not increase, ok, how about the tools we are using to teach our young ones? Is it as competitive as with other countries? Isn’t it worth to change? As for me, politicians do really miss this point. How the hell do you intend to study in an unroofed classroom? How do plan on teaching without a board?

It’s not about how we can stop the tuition from increasing because eventually, it will. With the current stage that we are having right now, expect it to change. It’s about how we change the way we teach and the way our teaching tools are being used and utilized. It’s about adding something to what’s already been there the whole time and make it more powerful, productive, and knowledgeable for our future generations. It’s about feeding the right amount of knowledge to our young ones who have grown very much hungry of it as time passes by.

Some politicians say that they would increase the economy by making foreign people invest a business in the country. Again, THEY ARE MISSING THE POINT. How can you even convince foreign people to invest in the country when even your own people are not. It’s not about how we make foreigners invest in the country, although it could help a lot, it’s about giving each Filipino the opportunity to have their own business to invest with. It’s about giving individuals knowledge about how to start to be productive and it’s about giving people a break to show what they really are capable of by giving them the same opportunity as we are giving to those foreign landers. It’s about a chance.

This coming MAY ELECTION, vote wisely. Choose the people whom you think could make a big difference in our country.

May 2010 Election

Good luck to all of us.

Mabuhay ang mga PINOY.

Recently, I have been hooked to creating a new PSP Theme of my own which will feature Monster Hunter. I have read so much articles on how to make one but none of them seem to fall the way I want it to be.

I downloaded this Custom Theme Converter software which enable users to change the icons of the Cross-Media Bar(XMB) of their PSP. I used it, edited some pictures to replace the default icons of Sony and after about two days of figuring out on how to crop the images right, I finally got it right. I exported the theme using the program, and there goes my PTF theme. The next problem is how to convert that PTF theme to CTF, since I am using Custom Firmware in my PSP I also use CTF themes for my machine.

I saw this software called CTF Manager, I downloaded and used it. It will convert your PTF theme to CTF theme, one of its many complicated features that it can do. And so I converted my PTF theme to CTF. DONE! I plugged my PSP to my computer, put the CTF theme to the folder in which it must be. Removed my PSP from my computer, changed my PSP theme to the theme that I just transfered.

Whoalaaaa! It didn’t work. T_T

I don’t know what else to do. I hope I can find another way to solve this problem.

Well, that’s it for now. Bye.

God bless everyone.

Peace.

P.S.: I will post here a downloadable link to the PSP theme once i finish it, this goes to all the PSP fanatics out there.

Monster Hunter Gathering Hall

Posted on December 29th, 2009

I recently found this video featuring the game that I am currently addicted to: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. The video displays a place to which we, players of the game, call a Gathering Hall. Brilliantly, London made a Gathering Hall itself to which hunters/players go on a quest together all in a single place.

Gathering Hall, London.

Such a great place for PSP gamers that are addicted and hooked up with Monster Hunter Series. How I wish we have this in our place(Cebu). It would an awesome idea for those fanatics about Monster Hunter.
